Tianjin will reach annual revenues of 800 billion yuan ($123 billion) from the sea by the end of 2020, reported the Bohai Morning Post on March 20.

The “Ocean GDP”, according to the report, will reach 35 percent of the total and the added value from the marine service industry will add up to 300 billion yuan ($46 billion).

During the 13th Five Year Plan (2016-20), Tianjin will upgrade its marine economy - including an advanced manufacturing cluster, developing marine services and improving the fishery industry.

Tianjin will improve port infrastructure and become a center for international cruises, the report said. It will also take the lead in yacht tourism in northern China.

The Binhai carriers theme park, located in Binhai New Area, will be another push for the ocean economy as a center for national defense education and tourism.

Seafood restaurants will open in the city to push the local fishing industry.
