Air conditioners are now more intelligent,thanks to technology from a Tianjin University research team, reported the City Express on March 18.

Named “MOVE EYE Sensing module”, the body-sensing bionic nervous system has been installed at the central air-conditioning system of Haier Group, China’s leading a home appliances provider.

The system, developed by a research team led by Ming Dong, combines sensors, revolving gear and a data processing center. The system can scan the human body with infrared sensors to measure the temperature in different parts of a room, just like a human’s sensory system.

"Our system can distinguish the temperature of human beings from other items,” said Ming Dong, “so it supplies air with precision.”

The technique has won two national patents in China and it makes Haier air conditioners more user-friendly and energy-effective.

The system is expected to be used in other industries, including smart home appliances, Internet of things, and elderly care.
