The first environmentally-friendly commercial complex in Tianjin’s Binhai New Area opened to the public on January 19, as the city vigorously promotes a healthy lifestyle, according to the Bohai Morning Post.

The complex, based in the TEDA Modern Service District, held a non-profit campaign on the same day, attracting many environmentalists.

Covering three floors, the complex, also known as the Ranke Healthy Life Center, has sectors for fitness training, early education and catering for different age groups.

Mr Fu, who’s lived overseas for many years, is the head of a company in Tianjin. He said that people living abroad have many ways to get in touch with nature and he wished that such new facilities can help people in the Binhai New Area to live a healthy life.

“Most people choose our center to get closer to nature. In the mean time, they also learn to protect nature,” said a worker in charge of the center.

“In air, water, decoration and furniture, we promote the concept of micro-environment,” the worker said. “The whole center is based on the circulatory system of negative oxygen ions, direct water pipeline, diatom ooze decorating materials and eco-friendly furniture.”

Such commercial facilities are popular in recent years, according the media reports. In 2014, a Green-and-Fun themed healthy club opened in Tianjin to promote low-carbon lifestyles.
