Tianjin FTZ experiences positive economic performance

A total of 8,455 businesses registered in the Tianjin Pilot Free Trade Zone (Tianjin FTZ) as of August 20, increasing 111.9 percent year-to-year. The registered capital reached 214.4 billion yuan ($33.4 billion), increasing 226.7 percent year to year.

These included 7,475 newly registered domestic businesses, with registered capital of 135.3 billion yuan ($21.2 billion). There were also 358 foreign capital businesses with 79 billion yuan ($12.3 billion) of registered capital. A total of 626 individual businesses declared 69 million yuan ($10.8 million).

The Tianjin Port Dongjiang Area attracted 2,583 new businesses, increasing 195.9 percent year to year. The registered capital received by the area reached 109.5 billion yuan ($17 billion), 199.6 percent more than last year.

The number of newly registered businesses in the Tianjin Airport Area reached 2,827, which increased 82.39 percent year to year. Registered capital in the area reached 43.4 billion yuan, increasing 109 percent year-to-year.

The Central Business Area in Binhai New Area attracted 3,045 newly registered businesses, increasing 94.3 percent year-to-year, with a total of 61.5 billion yuan ($9.6 billion) of registered capital, 639.7 percent more than last year.

A total of 4,570 RMB accounts and 103 foreign exchange accounts have been opened as of July 31 in the Tianjin FTZ. Total cross border revenue and expenditure reached $10.7 billion. Cross border revenue reached $5.1 billion and cross border expenditure reached $5.6 billion. Foreign exchange settlements and sales reached $5 billion, including $2.4 billion in settlements and $2.6 billion sales. Cross border RMB settlements reached 21.3 billion yuan ($3.3 billion), of which cross border revenue reached nine billion yuan ($1.4 billion) and cross border expenditure reached 12.3 billion yuan ($1.9 billion).
