The exhibition arranged by the Hangu Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum in Tianjin Binhai New Area was completed on July 6 and is ready to open to the public.

A total of seven projects will be exhibited, including cymbal dancing, centuries-old Hangu local opera, and the tales of Yanmu Temple. The museum will become an important window for Tianjin residents to learn about the intangible culture heritages in their hometown.

The Binhai New Area has paid great attention to protection of intangible cultural heritages in recent years. The new area has been dedicated to excavation, arrangement, management, and publication of intangible cultural heritage and achieved great results.

Hangu Cymbal Dancing is the only project which has been selected as the national level intangible cultural heritage in the Binhai New Area. Hangu local opera, the tale of Yanmu Temple, and the special cooked seafood in Hangu have been selected as Tianjin's intangible cultural heritage. Another three projects were selected as the first batch of intangible cultural heritage in Binhai New Area.

The museum is located in the fourth floor of Hangu Culture Museum. The total area of the museum is 300 square meters. The museum is also used for showcases, performances, protection, publication, and research.

With picture and words interpretation, exhibits, performances, and multimedia presentation, the traditional folk arts and intangible cultural heritages in Hangu are presented in front of visitors. Nearly 200 historical pictures and more than 80 cultural relics are exhibited.

"Through presentation of intangible cultural heritages, the museum will improve society's knowledge in the area. With the exhibition, more residents will know and access intangible cultural heritage. In addition, the heritages will be better published, inherited, and developed," said a staff member of the museum.
