Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei tourism integration for Spring Festival
| Updated: 2015-02-26 15:00:28 | By Liu Yiyi (chinadaily.com.cn) |

As the two cities of Beijing and Tianjin work together with Hebei province on development, more people from the three areas are staying around to travel there during Spring Festival, resulting in greater interaction in the tourism industry there since last year.

This year, celebrating Spring Festival in the greater Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area has been more marketed by the tourism industry during the week-long holiday, with tourism administrations of the three cooperating in publications, information, resources, and law enforcement and offering events such as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Temple Fairs.

In addition, tourism administrators worked together on five tourist routes in the area for Spring Festival, with special discounts on scenic spots for food, accommodations, transportation, entertainment, and shopping with a special travel card. In addition, transportation is more convenient with direct service between scenic spots and attractions.

Tianjin's tourism administration put on a Spring Festival celebration for 30 tourists from Beijing and Hebei to give them a taste of Tianjin culture, on Feb 23, with those from Beijing taking the Beijing-Tianjin intercity high speed train, and those from the Hebei cities of Tangshan and Cangzhou taking the Tianjin-Qinhuangdao and Beijing-Shanghai high speed train lines to Tianjin.

They also invited five international students in Tianjin to take part in the event. Tourists getting off the high speed trains could transfer directly to a tourist shuttle to scenic spots.

One tourist from Beijing, named Zhao who brought his wife and son to celebrate the festival in Tianjin, commented, "We usually celebrate Spring Festival in Beijing but decided to get a taste of a different festival culture, this year. And it only took about an hour for us to get to scenic spots in Tianjin, thanks to the Beijing-Tianjin high speed train, which made it as convenient as visiting a friend in Beijing."

During the week-long National Day holiday in October, statistics show tourists from Beijing accounting for 50 - 60 percent of the total number of Chinese visiting Tianjin, and those who spent more than a day in Tianjin up more than 12 percent year-on-year.

Cangzhou's tourism administration reports more than 70,000 Cangzhou people visiting Tianjin via travel agencies, in 2014.

At the same time, many Tianjin people visited Beijing for this year's Spring Festival to see its temple fairs or took tours of Hebei province to experience the folk culture of Chengde and Handan.

A member of the Tianjin tourism administration noted, "Tourist spending covers food, accommodations, transportation, scenic spots, shopping, and entertainment and Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei each has its own culture, folk traditions, and history which provide favorable tourism resources. Tourism administrators in the three places should cooperate more and put together tourism products to increase tourist exchanges and push tourist spending for mutual development."
