According to the Tianjin Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, a total of 34,099 batches and 479,000 vehicles were checked in the first ten months of this year. It is expected that the number of vehicles imported through ports in Tianjin will reach 500,000 in 2014. Ports in Tianjin will continue to be China's number one imported finished automobile entry point.
A staff member from the Bureau explained that 2014 has witnessed the revival of imported Japanese automobiles, whose number has steadily increased. In the first ten months, their total imported number reached 96,000, an increase of 30 percent year on year.
The spokesman also mentioned that imported American-made automobiles have experienced a rapid development. Relying on their reasonable pricing, the American-made automobiles are becoming more and more well known in the Chinese imported automobile market.
In the first ten months, a total of 132,000 American-made vehicles were imported through the ports in Tianjin, which was three times greater than the number last year. Many American brands, such as Ford, Jeep, and Dodge, have increased enormously.
Global motor companies continue to reinforce their development in the Chinese market. As the exchange rate of the RMB has dropped, the costs of the companies are further reduced and their profits have increased.
In addition, as the impact of the financial crisis has not yet passed, many global motor companies see more opportunities in the Chinese automobile market and are increasing their export volumes to China.
With the further development of Tianjin Binhai New Area, the ports in Tianjin have become a center for imported automobiles in China. A total of 18 global motor companies have chosen to import their automobiles to China through Tianjin's ports.
The number of automobiles imported through Tianjin has ranked top among other ports in China for many years. Tianjin ports imported around 470,000 automobiles in 2013.
