The seventh China Peking Opera Art Festival was unveiled in Tianjin's Grand Theatre. A total of 33 Peking opera troupes gave 57 performances based on 31 plays. However, this year's festival canceled the awards and focused solely on study and discussion.

In addition, a series of events are being held to popularize Peking opera. Such events include Peking opera performances in communities and on campus, exhibitions of paintings of Peking opera characters, and lectures featuring Peking opera masters.
