Jixian county, located to the north of North China’s harbor city of Tianjin, is going to develop tourism as its leading industry based on ecological, historical, and cultural resources.

In addition, the county is building a sustainable industrial system which integrates ecological agriculture, low-carbon industries, and the intelligence industry to realize leapfrog growth.

The county has been planning the layout for its tourism, according to a local official in charge. Jixian has not only upgraded its tourism resources, but also completed facilities for catering, accommodation, transportation, shopping, and entertainment.

Jixian is staging a show that reflects famous landscapes in the county and blends nature and culture with song and dance to spectacular effect, and this will be promoted as its first tourism product.

The county will further polish its cultural tourism highlights in performances and exhibitions, providing a drive for industrial development and making the county a “leisure city” in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

The official also said that Jixian county will strengthen its green industry and will construct a Zhouhe industrial park, which will integrate two municipal-level industrial parks, an automobile industrial park and the industrial park in Shangcang, in south-central Jixian.

With the support of the new green industrial park, Jixian will focus on four dominated industries, namely, modern facility manufacturing, new materials, green food, and biological pharmaceutics.

It is estimated that the total construction area of the industrial park will reach 27.73 square kilometers; the number of projects invested in by investors outside Jixian is about 320, which will attract investment worth 65 billion yuan ($10.6 billion).

And the tax revenue is expected to reach 1.4 billion yuan. More than 41,000 jobs will be created.

"We are going to push forward the transition from traditional agriculture to ecological agriculture", said the official. The county will put its efforts into establishing a Yuqiao reservoir green agricultural belt, while expediting the growth of the vegetable, fruit, and flower planting industries.

Jixian has realized greater economic value by integrating agriculture and tourism. The county has developed agricultural sightseeing tourism, agricultural product logistics and processing, and the whole industrial chain for organic agriculture on the south and east banks of the reservoir and the southern plain areas.

The county has also brought out in-depth trips and vocation packages featuring agriculture and adventure. In addition, Jixian has focused on constructing a lake circuit green agricultural zone, a southern modern agricultural zone, a mountainous fruit planting zone, and a western flower planting zone.

According to the official, the county is upgrading its service industry to a smart industry. The smart service, economy, and commerce and trade industries are aggregating in the new city which makes it the center of the county’s development.

Focusing on Panlonggu, South Panshan area, and general airports, the cultural entertainment industry has been improved in Panshan.

Furthermore, centered on the Feixunyungu cloud computing data center, Jixian will build the largest high-tech IT industrial park in North China, which will serve to make progress in innovative and hi-tech industries, such as communications, electronics, and the internet.
