The Tianjin municipality government held the 2013 Haihe Friendship Award ceremony on Sept 11.
Cui Jindu, vice-mayor of Tianjin, and Liu Yanguo, deputy administrator of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), presented awards for 10 Haihe Friendship Award winners and 10 nominated foreign experts.
On behalf of the Tianjin municipal Party committee and municipal government, Cui expressed appreciation to the foreign experts for their outstanding contribution to Tianjin’s professional industries, including electronic information, bio-medicine and equipment manufacturing.
Meanwhile, he encouraged the experts to utilize their unique roles to attract talent and resources, taking an active part in Tianjin’s development.
Taking local economic and social development into consideration, Tianjin keeps improving its talents introduction policies and working for overseas talents introduction model, Liu Yanguo said. He also spoke highly of Tianjin as a demonstration of talent introduction systems throughout China.
The Haihe Friendship Award was officially established in 2006 as an award for foreign experts who have had an outstanding impact on Tianjin’s economic and social development. The municipal government presents it as the highest honor for foreign experts working in Tianjin.
The winners of the Haihe Friendship Award can apply to the SAFEA for the Chinese government Friendship Award based on the approval of the municipal government.
A total of 193 Haihe Friendship Award winners were recommended by the municipal administration of foreign experts affairs for State friendship awards, 34 of them eventually won.
