Kenyans showed their dominance in marathon again as they swept both the men's and women's titles in the 2012 Tianjin International Marathon here on Saturday.
The 27-year-old Kenyan Michael Kiprop Tiony clocked two hours, 16 minutes, 16 seconds to finish first in the men's race, 14 seconds ahead of his countryman Philemon Kipkirui Rotich. Joel Kiplimo Kemboi finished third in 2:16:45 to manage a podium sweep for Kenya.
Naomi Jepngetich who is also from Kenya claimed title in the women's race in 2:37:22. The runner-up was Viola Chepleting Bor of Kenya who clocked 2:38:06. China's Wang Xiaoshu turned out to be the highest ranked local runner as she finished third in 2:41:16.
The winners of both races won the prize money of 30,000 US dollars respectively.
