2010-12-06

The First Tianjin International Boxing Exhibition Games and WBO (World Boxing Organization) Continental Boxing Championship ends in the northern coastal city of Tianjin on Sunday. The event was certified by the WBO China Zone and 34 top-level boxers from eight countries, including China, the United States, Australia and Russia, fought fiercely for the "golden belts".

Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson attended the event as a global boxing ambassador and was at a series of promotional activities.

Meanwhile, the Tianjin municipal government signed an official agreement with the WBO to set up Asia's first WBO International Boxing Center in Tianjin. The boxing center will contain four gymnasiums, including a center court gym and a club for fans. The WBO China Zone will also put on more than 200 boxing events annually at the center and world boxing summits and professional training will be held there regularly.
