A group of over 300 pyramid salesmen were arrested on Wednesday at a celebration conference at a Baodi District hotel in Tianjin.

The group was holding the conference to award and promote their staff, according to police. Twelve tables of dishes had been ordered for the celebration but went untouched as police raided the hotel.

Police said high ranking leaders and the backbone staff of the group were caught. Fourteen pyramid salesmen were detained and 220 were released after interrogation. The case is currently under further investigation.

 Officials with the administration departments for industry and commerce said they were tipped off at 7 am Wednesday and carried out the crackdown with police and relevant departments.
