An excellent infrastructure guarantees reliable development. Tai'an plans to resolve its water shortage and insufficient electricity supply through two major projects.

The Yellow River water diversion project, at a cost of 1.9 billion yuan ($280 million), is expected to begin in 2017 providing a daily water supply of 230,000 tons. A 5.9 billion yuan electricity project is expected to guarantee normal commercial and industrial consumption.

A traffic network connecting Tai'an's districts, counties, towns and new rural communities is also under development.

Tai'an intends to build a city with comprehensive functions, and emphasizes industrial cluster construction with six branches of manufacturing, including non-metallic materials, bioengineering and automobiles.

Tai'an is also set to build new rural communities, while simultaneously improving community services and facilities.

It encourages citizens to move into the new communities for concentrated housing construction.

A new rural community doesn't mean typical construction; Tai'an seeks to build modernized small cities and towns with local features. By 2020, at least eight such towns with unique functions and local features will be brought to fruition.
