Shandong gives highest award to cultural innovation
The Shandong Provincial Cultural Innovation Award was established by the Shandong government on Mar 1 2013. The award, as the province's highest award for cultural innovation, is aimed at rewarding organizations and project participants who make outstanding contributions to the development of cultural innovation in Shandong.
The pool of candidates will be chosen every two years through public appraisal and 30 awards will go to 30 winners, each of whom will receive a cash prize of 50,000 yuan ($7602).

Qufu hosts 7th Session of World Confucian Conference
The 7th World Confucian Conference commenced in the hometown of Confucius in Qufu, Shandong province on Sept 27. The theme of this year's conference was entitled, "Confucianism and its Contemporary Value".
The sub-themes of the conference are "the philosophical mission of Confucianism in modern era", "Confucianism and the national soft power", "rites culture and moralities" and "Confucianism and the public culture".
The conference, founded in 2007, is an international Confucian event that serves to create a platform for research into Confucianism.

China-Japan-South Korea Art Night held in Qingdao
The "China-Japan-South Korea Art Night" show was staged at the Qingdao Grand Theater in Qingdao, Shandong province on Dec 19.
The performance, sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Qingdao Municipal Government, was one of the important "2015 Year of East Asia City of Culture" activities in Qingdao. With the flowers from the three countries - jasmine, hibiscus and cherry- as the theme, the show brought a feast of the arts and culture from all three sides.
