SPC delegation visits the supreme courts of Brazil and Panama
Ma Shizhong, head of the Political Department of China's Supreme People's Court (SPC), led a delegation by invitation to the supreme courts of Brazil and Panama from Apr 1 to 9.
In Brazil, Ma attended the 30th anniversary campaign for the establishment of the nation's Superior Court of Justice (STJ). The campaign was themed on judicial power in international relationships. Ma made a speech for the campaign about judicial occupational moral roles.
João Otávio de Noronha, the president of the STJ, met with Ma and his delegation. Ma transferred a congratulatory letter marking the anniversary from Zhou Qiang, China's chief justice and president of the SPC, to Noronha and invited Noronha to visit China.
The delegation visited judicial-related institutions and colleges in Sao Paulo, the largest city of Brazil, and held working meetings in each of them. They also called on the Chinese Consulate-General in Sao Paulo.
In Panama, Ma and his delegation met with Hernán De León Batista, the president of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) and held a working meeting with all justices of the CSJ's Plenary Session.
The return visit, entrusted by Zhou Qiang, aims to implement the MoU signed between the two sides in early 2019, tighten judicial exchanges and keep improving the two sides'judicial cooperation.
The parties exchanged ideas on common fields of interest including judge management and judicial reform.
