Introduction to University of Leeds

Established in 1904, the University of Leeds in downtown Leeds, the second largest financial city in the United Kingdom, is one of the largest higher education institutions in the UK.

The university is ranked among the top 100 universities in the QS World University Rankings 2021 and is ranked 15th in its Good University Guide 2021. It is a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities and is part of the Worldwide Universities Network, which comprises 23 research-intensive institutions spanning six continents.

Overview of the program

Shanxi University and the University of Leeds signed a cooperation agreement: After students at Shanxi University have completed the first two years of courses there, they can take courses at the University of Leeds. After passing those courses, the students can obtain diplomas from both universities.

Application requirements, expenses and scholarships

1. Application requirements

(1) Language: English language proficiency with an overall IELTS score of 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in a single subject) or equivalent.

(2) No record of bad behavior at school.

(3) Applicants must be students of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Shanxi University.

2. Program expense

Tuition: £24,500 per semester

3. Scholarship

The University of Leeds provides a scholarship of £3,000 per academic year to each Shanxi University student who meets the minimum admission requirements and is accepted for the program. It will provide an additional £1,000 to each Shanxi University student with an average grade of 60 percent in the first year of study at the University of Leeds.
