A delegation from Shanxi University (SXU) visited Hongtong county in southern Shanxi province on Dec 14, to promote cooperation with the county.

The delegation, which was led by SXU Vice-president Cheng Fangqin, met government officials of the county and discussed areas of future cooperation.

Huang Wei, Party chief of Hongtong, gave a briefing on current conditions in the county. Huang expressed the hope that the two sides would agree and develop long-term plans, share resources and carry out joint ventures in scientific and technological innovation, the development of businesses and the construction of student internship facilities.

Cheng talked about the university's achievements in chemical engineering, green energy and biomedicines and said that Hongtong county had a profound cultural heritage, a sound industrial foundation and a promising future for development.

She added that Shanxi University was willing to expand links with the county, so as to provide strong support for its local socioeconomic development.

The university's delegation also visited companies in the county, learning about local industry and development.
