Shanxi University’s alumni in Beijing donated 20,000 protective face masks to the university in early March and provided their alma mater in North China’s Shanxi province with procurement supply channels for prevention and control materials, according to SXU officials.
Huang Guitian, president of Shanxi University, sent a letter of gratitude to the Shanxi University Alumni Association in Beijing for its assistance to the university at a critical time in the fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic.
He said the university had received a great deal of support and help from its alumni in different regions and all walks of life since it had started carrying out its epidemic prevention and control measures.

The Shanxi University Alumni Association in Zhejiang province donated 5,000 protective masks to the school. Two alumni -- Zhu Jiayu and Wen Jianyu -- donated 1 metric ton of disinfectant. The branch of Bank of China at the university contributed 300 protective masks and 400 pairs of protective gloves, while Jiangsu Education Group donated 1,000 heavy duty K94 medical masks.
Officials said those donations had provided a guarantee for materials to supply the university’s epidemic prevention and control program.
