School of International Education and Exchange
Updated : 2019-11-07
Established in 1993, the School of International Education and Exchange at Shanxi University was formerly known as the International Exchange Center of the University. It is now the external window for the internationalization of education at Shanxi University. Its mission is to promote Shanxi University and conduct international exchanges and serve as a link and bridge to overseas Chinese.
Our school is one of the Chinese education bases recognized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. It started to recruit Chinese government scholarship students and Confucius Institute Scholarship winners in 2013.
It is mainly responsible for the recruitment and management of overseas students -- including self-funded international students, exchange students, Confucius Institute scholarship winners and Chinese government scholarship winners, as well as Chinese language training and international cooperation in school administration and scientific research.
Our school sets up short-term and long-term Chinese training courses and Chinese cultural programs. It not only provides overseas students with opportunities to understand the Chinese language and culture, but also provides a bridge for overseas students to enter all levels of majors at Shanxi University.
Shanxi University began recruiting overseas students in 1981. To date, it has taught more than 1,000 students from over 50 countries and regions. These include students from the US, UK, Germany, Canada, Italy, Mexico, Australia, Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Japan, Brazil, Romania, Mongolia, Singapore, Thailand, Algeria, Cameroon, Madagascar and others.
Most of the students who have completed their studies at Shanxi University work in foreign embassies or consulates in China, diplomatic organizations, friendship associations, or joint ventures -- contributing to cooperation and friendly exchanges between China and other countries and regions.
