Huang Guitian, born in August 1963 in Yunmeng, Hubei province, is the principal and Deputy Party Secretary of Shanxi University, a professor, and a doctoral supervisor. He has a degree in economics.

2004: Selected by the Ministry of Education to join the New Century Programme for the Talented.
2007: Was awarded the State Council Expert for Special Allowance
2011: Hired as a distinguished professor of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program, the chief editor of Economic Science, and the deputy secretary-general of the National University Symposium on Socialist Economic Theory and Practice

September 1987-July 1990: Was a postgraduate at Central China Normal University
September 1994-July 1997: Was a doctoral student at Renmin University of China
July 1997-July 1999: Engaged in postdoctoral research at the Peking University Economics Postdoctoral Research Station
Huang’s research focuses on enterprise theory and reform, macroeconomic analysis, and the industrial economy.
In 2001, Huang won second place in the 6th Excellent Achievements in Philosophy and Social Science competition in Beijing and first place in the 5th National Outstanding Financial Paper competition.
In 2004, Huang won second place in the 8th Excellent Achievements in Philosophy and Social Science competition in Beijing.
In 2005, Huang won second place in the National-Level Teaching Achievement competition.
In 2008, Huang won first place in the Beijing Education and Teaching Achievement (Higher Education) competition.
In 2009, Huang won second place in the National-Level Teaching Achievement competition.
In 2010, Huang won the Peking University Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Instructor Award.
In 2011, Huang’s paper entitled Relative Proportion Change and Economic Impact of Production Factors of China’s Manufacturing Industry was inducted into the National Philosophy and Social Science Achievements Library.
In 2012, Huang won the Peking University Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Instructor Award.
In 2013, Industrial Organization Theory, a textbook compiled by Huang, was rated a high-quality textbook for higher education in Beijing. Huang also won first place at the 6th Higher Education Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Awards (Humanities and Social Sciences).
