Shanxi University’s Green Development Research Center and Urban-Rural Governance Research Institute have been included in Shanxi Provincial Education Department’s list of key research institutes in the province.

The Green Development Research Center is an interdisciplinary institute co-founded by researchers from the university’s doctoral programs covering ecology, environmental science and engineering, economic history and economics and management schools as well as the Loess Plateau Research Institute.

It was established to conduct studies regarding ecology, resources, the green economy, policy and performance appraisal.

The Urban-Rural Governance Research Institute was backed by the university’s political science doctoral program.

Its research focuses on grass-roots administration, improving living standards and public policy.

Shanxi University now has ten academic centers included in the Shanxi province key research institutes list, as well as one institute on the national-level list produced by China’s Ministry of Education.
