On Dec 16, Wang Laigui, specialist of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) was invited to give special tutoring in the declaration of Shanxi University for NSFC funds. Han Gaoyi and Yang Hengquan from Shanxi University were also in the panel.

The conference was hosted by Cheng Fangqin, director of the university's science & technology division.

The panel made a detailed one-by-one analysis on the background, research contents, key scientific issues and the innovative points of the declaration. They made some recommendations for improvement in these areas too. The young teachers from science and engineering department of Shanxi University also received counseling on their applications from Prof Wang.

During the special report, the specialist also pointed out the important parts for the university to apply for NSFC funds in respect of scientific literacy, the characteristic of the funds, selection of subjects and classification of research contents. He also mentioned the matters that need to be paid attention during drafting the declaration and in the process of application.

Thanks for Prof Wang's carefully instruction, all the teachers not only learnt specific techniques of drafting a declaration but got deep understanding about the general rules and ideological methodology of scientific research.
