When the Chinese Musicians Association held its Prime Golden Bell Music Awards (university category) ceremony, in the city of Yichang, Hubei province recently, a teacher from Shanxi University's Academy of Music, Zhao Yichao, stood out and got a 5th place award with his performance of pieces by Scriabin and Beethoven, giving Shanxi province the highest honor it has received in recent years.

The ceremony, for the 3rd national piano competition, is held every two years and is one of three major events of the Chinese Musicians Association, based on provincial selections and a national final.
