Tourism-based projects agreed in Pingyao

An ecotourism resort and a cultural experience center will be built in Pingyao, according to two agreements signed on Dec 9 in the county.

The resort, costing 1 billion yuan ($144.72 million), will take Hengpo ancient village in Duancun town as its center and develop an ecotourism demonstration area featuring sightseeing and recreation based on local agriculture.

Located at Tangdu Lacquer Ware Co, the experience center covers an area of 3,500 square meters. The project, with a theme of exciting science and cultural experiences, will combine tourism and science education by means of 4D technology. It will take 55 million yuan to complete the first phase of the center.

The two projects invested in by Pingyao Coal Chemical Group will further promote Pingyao culture and drive the tourism-based economy of the county.

"The Pingyao government supports local companies like Pingyao Coal Chemical Group in industrial transformation and business expansion, and we welcome more ecotourism projects to be introduced in the county," said Wu Xiaohua, a top official in Pingyao.

Pingyao Coal Chemical Group has been changing its development pattern and expanding its operations in the service industry, such as in tourism, finance and the cultural creative sector in recent years. It now has 18 subsidiaries, such as Pingyao Tangyingyuan Culture Media Co and Tangdu Lacquer Ware Co.
