Shanxi develops renewable energy power generation
Updated: 2015-12-29( chinadaily.com.cn)
As China develops power generation through renewable energy, Shanxi province has sharply increased its wind power and photovoltaic installed capacity.
The province's wind electricity installed capacity amounted to 6.49 million KW in 2015, up by 40.85 percent over the same period last year, and the photovoltaic power installed capacity reached 775,000 KW, a year-on-year increase of 158.33 percent.
Over the past year, the Shanxi power grid generated 9.42 billion kilowatt hours of electricity through wind and 637 million kilowatt hours through photovoltaic power, taking its power generation through new energy to over 10 billion kilowatt hours in one year.
New energy power generation already accounts for 5.61 percent of total power generation in the province.
As strong winds increase in winter, wind power generation will be in its peak season. The Shanxi power grid said it will improve wind power grid connection management as well as dispatch and operations to make sure of more power generation through renewable energy.
