Pingyao ecology park gets new film center

The Hengpo Ecology Park in Pingyao county, Shanxi province announced the opening of a film center at a ceremony, on Dec 28, while a photography contest was running simultaneously, put on by the county's culture and tourism bureau and its photography associations, to attract more visitors.

The park has a picturesque environment and is a major rural tourist destination, along with some old architecture that is well-preserved or is being restored and is expected to be a popular tourist spot. After years of development, the area has become a top Chinese travel spot and this new center is expected to help the development, while documenting the tourism resources and natural landscape and folk customs.

Meanwhile, the contest organizers are calling for photographs from camera lovers across the country, up to July 31, 2015, after which, the selected works will take part in the next Pingyao International Photography Festival.
