An exhibition of portrait photographs of local celebrities, from Liu Jinchuan, a prominent Datong photographer, is underway at the China Sculpture Museum, in the city of Datong, Shanxi province, since Dec 6.

Liu spent over two years catching some special moments of eminent cultural figures in the city in the hope of showing their charisma through his photographs, including some Lu Xun Literary Prize winners, Plum Performance Award winners (for outstanding drama), history and culture scholars, and masters of intangible cultural heritage.

Liu is interested in cultural preservation and is prolific in his work and has held a number of exhibitions. Some of his works appeared on CCTV, China's largest TV station.
