There is more coming to the Datong Pingcheng Lecture Room, in December, in the city of Datong, Shanxi province, with Han Fu, a popular speaker and professor of traditional Chinese culture, continuing with his lecture series with an analysis of Chinese literary classics, on the 14th, and a new speaker, Yang Junfang, who will talk about differences in Chinese and western aesthetics in the world of sculptures, on Dec 28.
Yang, a professor at Datong University's Arts School and a member of the Yungang Grottoes Research Institute, specializes in Datong art history and has published many academic articles and painted a body of arts works on this. She has been a frequent speaker at institutions in the province, where she shares her research findings on areas, such as Buddhist aesthetics.
The Lecture Room is a cultural event whose organizers ask scholars or experts in different fields to come speak about a range of topics and takes its name from 'Pingcheng', an earlier name of the city of Datong, when it was capital of the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386-534).
