If people think of Guangling county near the city of Datong, Shanxi province, many might think of the Water God Hall but, in fact, there's another scenic spot nearby that is no less wonderful -- Dianding Mountain, with a meadow high up on top, hills and gorges, and a great variety of vegetation.

Dianding is 48 kilometers from the county center with Datong's highest point, Huangyang Peak, to the north, and Cetian Reservoir to the west. Its peak is 2008 meters high, with a meadow covering 66-square-kilometers and a variety of flowers and trees and interesting stones indicating the many geological changes over millions of years.

There are wind power generators up the mountain, with the bright white windmills adding more color to the greenery. Looking down from up on top, you can see the golden grids of farmland the harvesting of wheat, corn, and other grains. There are pine trees, birch, and fruit trees in the midst of all this, to brighten up autumn.

The grass, trees, birds, rocks, and gentle wind come together in a natural symphony so visitors from the urban landscape can definitely find a wonderful place to get away from the noises and find inner peace.
