In the city of Datong, Shanxi province, some high school students took to their bicycles along the main streets of the city, on Sept 21, holding a banner aloft for "World Car Free Day" to push the concept of leaving the car at home and using green, low-carbon transportation, as Car Free Day approaches.

The five students have been pals since junior high and now, in their first year of high school, they decided to take action rode about the city handing out brochures about how to go green to passersby, and explained the benefits of low-carbon travel. The team of cyclists even managed to attract large crowds who would pause for a while to hear what they had to say.

It appears that a majority of the people were in favor of the student's awareness campaign and a number even promised not to drive on Car Free Day and try their best to go green in their daily lives.
