The Datong International Auto Festival will be from August 22 to 27 at the site of the ancient city walls in Datong, Northern China's Shanxi province. Preparations are underway.

The festival, hosted by the city government and the China National Automotive Industry International Corporation, has become a popular event over the years. This year's festival is no exception, adding more entertainment options to its line-up than before including go-karts, a bicycle race, a children's painting competition and more.

The festival's photography contest will host tours of the ancient city for camera lovers. Photographers are encouraged to take photos of both the festival and the city landscape.

The model contest is the auto festival's highlight. Twenty female models will put on three fashion shows per day, wearing everything from traditional Chinese costumes, to motor jackets to evening gowns with expensive jewelry.

In addition, visitors can take certain cars for a drive, do some sand-painting and participate in martial-arts activities. The city will also hold cycling and running competitions. Participants can choose to ride a bicycle or jog along the city's Yudong New District.

Go-kart racing will take place from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm every day during the festival.
