Statistics released by the investment promotion bureau of Datong city in Shanxi province show that 29.84 billion yuan ($4.78 billion) was put to use by the end of June, accounting for 52.35 percent of annual investment.
Effectiveness of fund allocation is ensured by the efforts of the Datong government, in particular, the bureau, which takes responsibility for gathering, packaging and promoting foreign investment projects.
It has brought in 226 projects with an investment of 106.32 billion yuan, including 54 agricultural, 95 industrial, 7 social welfare, 36 tourism, 27 service and 7 capital expansion and property transfer projects.
The bureau seeks more communication with big corporations, for example, Sinopharm Group Co Ltd, Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts and IBM. Datong also joined the 14th Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing in China, and sent delegation teams to arrange business cooperation with enterprises in Guangdong and Shanxi provinces, Tianjin municipality and Beijing. The city also held a fair in Beijing to promote Datong's tourism industry. In addition, the city cooperates with the China Logistics Association, Chinese Association of Refrigeration, Beijing Xinao Logistics Company and Shandong Rizhao Business Group.
The city government exploits its cultural, tourism and transportation resources to engage in the collaborative development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province, and the New Silk Road Economic Belt - linking Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia and Xinjiang provinces in northwestern China, and Chongqing municipality, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangxi provinces in southwestern China.
The city also devotes itself to building a high-technology logistics center, connecting Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia and surrounding areas.
