Datong has taken various measures this year to improve farmers’ incomes.

Data shows that the disposable income of Datong rural residents per capita in the first quarter was 1,844 yuan, a year-on-year growth of 13 percent, 0.7 percent higher than the national average and 0.3 percent higher than the provincial average.

Special funds totaling 175 million yuan (about $28 million) are dedicated for modern farming. And 26 agricultural demonstration parks have been decided this year, to promote facility agriculture, agricultural standardization, farm produce processing, agricultural logistics and rural sightseeing.

The city government also sent agricultural and husbandry experts and technical workers to give training courses to farmers, which has enhanced their modern farming techniques.

Sales revenue of produce and agricultural processing companies in Datong reached 1.88 billion yuan (about $300 million) in the first quarter.
