Shanxi province will set up 37 bus lines in 2014, to directly link more than 20 of Shanxi’s famous scenic spots with the downtown areas, high-speed railway station, and airports around the province, Shanxi Daily reported on April 3.
The scenic spots include Mount Wutain, Pingyao ancient town, Mianshan Mountain, Royal Prime Minister's Palace, Shigao Mountain, and Yunqiu Mountain.
Tourists can also transfer between two scenic spots by taking direct buses.
The direct bus lines represent a new method for tourism that achieves an organic combination of the tourism industry and transportation. Its operation is quite flexible, with it being adjustable according to tourists’ needs, providing a safer and more convenient transportation service to the tourists, which is also good for the transformation and upgrading of the province's tourism industry.
The 37 bus lines are part of the direct bus network system, made up of more than 50 bus lines in total. The project will be finished gradually in 2014 and 2015. By then, the total number of tourism buses will amount to no more than 500, forming a loop travelling line, and covering all of the key scenic spots.
