On the bases of successfully establishing Datong as a National Garden City, the city of Datong, Shanxi province, will continue to carry out 8 greening projects, to improve the city's ecological environment and citizens' living environment.

The eight greening projects include one in the scenic area at Datong's North City Wall, covering 200,000 sq-ms, and costing a total investment of 180 million yuan; the management project of the belt-shaped park and the buildings at the city's South City Wall, costing a total of 100 million yuan; the first-phrase transformation projects at the Children's Park, covering an area of 200,000 square meters, and costing 50 million yuan; the greening construction project at the public events corridor, covering an area of 600,000 square meters and costing 300 million yuan; the newly built roads greening project, 140 kilometers long and costing 140 million yuan; the greening project at the Ganghe River Park, covering an area of 500,000 square meters, and costing 100 million yuan; greening projects at the community parks, covering an area of 200,000 square meters and costing 60 million yuan; and the greening project at a 2500,000 sq-ms scenic area, and costing 500 million yuan.
