The city of Datong, Shanxi province hosted a seminar, on Feb 16, to discuss work on a digital city, with the help of academics and members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and ministries of Science and Technology and Housing and Urban-Rural Development, who offered their suggestions.

Also taking part was Li Junming, Datong's mayor, who oversaw in-depth discussion on four key areas -- cloud-based construction, cloud services, skynet engineering, and Datong’s digital construction work -- concerning programs, platform integration, and building, operation, and business modes. The participants also came up with various areas needing emphasis -- project implementation, digital management, political administration, an intelligent community, digital education, and digital medical treatment.

Li gave the concluding speech and remarked that the expert suggestions need to be put into practice in every urban government department and that the experts need to provide more guidance to the city on its position and development in the future.
