The city of Datong's landscaping bureau announced its plans for building a park beside the old north part of the city wall, on Nov 26, covering on an area of 530,000 square meters.
The project, which is expected to start this coming spring, will include a moat, a sculpture area, and a sunken plaza, with the focus on lighting, greening, and putting a hard surface on the access road.
One person involved with the project gave a brief description of the unique terrain to the north of the city wall, which is higher to the west and lower to the east, with a fall of 22 meters. The Beijing Institute of Landscaping and Traditional Architecture and Research has come up with a design and report on the work.
