When Datong's Culture Forum and Datong Evening News sponsored some "Rolls of Books Plan" activities they got good support from the public and school children alike and, in just one year, had a team visit some elementary schools in poor parts of Yang Gao, Tianzhen, Xinrong, Guang Ling and Datong, and helping establish nine school libraries in the countryside with 20,000 books and at least 1,500 exercise books.

They also gave 5,000 yuan ($821) to the Guangling Xiantouju primary school to do repair work on its buildings.

This year, the Culture Forum has visited schools and has asked students to donate books, with students at 23 elementary and experimental primary schools in Chengqu responding with nearly 10,000 books. Previously, the Culture Forum had another activity called "Sending culture to the community," where it got Party members to get involved in the donation activity to get books and clothing and provide one-on-one help and volunteer work. In addition, the Culture Forum built a public charity site and expects to spread its charm and provide more wonderful services.
