The Chongqing stop of the Shanxi Brand China Tour got off to a rousing start, on Nov 1, the first day of the event, with 460,000 yuan ($75,410) worth of sales of Shanxi specialties and contracts worth 22.15 million yuan being signed.
There were 37 Shanxi companies taking part the event, which ran for three days, with hundreds of Shanxi specialties on show at the 800-sq-m exhibition area. The brand tour runs at the same time as the China Senior Citizen Industrial Expo, with healthcare products making an appearance among the exhibition items.
Also on show were Shanxi cultural events, such as folk performances and noodle demonstrations, giving Chongqing citizens a better feel for Shanxi life and brands. The promotion activities helped the province in many ways, for example, the 15.5 million-yuan worth of Pingyao beef purchased by Chongqing buyers, on the first day alone. There was also a 4-million-yuan mature vinegar contract signed and a stainless-steel contract for the Shanxi Henglichen Stainless Steel Design Co, worth 2-million yuan.
