The exhibition plan for Yudong's new Datong Museum was recently released. The new museum, covering an area of 32,821 square meters, three time the old one, will include four halls for series exhibitions, three for specials exhibitions, and one dinosaur exhibition hall, with a total of 3,000 cultural relics exhibited there.
The new museum, located at the bank of Wenying Lake, is designed by Cui Kai, an outstanding architect in China. The architectural form of the new museum vividly reflects the long history of Datong culture, and also shows the cultural conflict and combinations of Hu and Han (two nationalities in Chinese history) and achieves the cultural integration in Datong.
On the ground floor of the new museum, there is an interactive area specifically designed for children. A five-division cinema allows up to 40 people to enjoy the combination of watching, listening, smelling, feeling and moving.
