The mayor of Datong, Li Junming, met with top management of three Chinese State-owned power enterprises, in Beijing, Oct 24-25, to discuss construction work on power projects in Datong and the city's work on a new energy base.
Li held talks specifically with Feng Shuchen, the GD Power Development Co's GM, Zhou Gang, vice-general manager of the Datang International Power Generation Co, and Chen Jianhua, Huadian Power International Corp's GM, about the key project problems and major tasks of government and enterprises.
The power industry has great potential in Datong, whose total installed capacity is 7.44 million KW, putting it in top place in Shanxi province. The city has plans to double that to 15 million KW in three to five years to make it major power source for the cities of Beijing and Tianjin.
The above-mentioned three enterprises'key projects in Datong are the GD Power Development Co's Hudong 4*1-mil-KW ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant; Datang International Power Generation Co's Yudong 2*350,000-KW combined heat and power plant; and Huadian Power International's 4*660,000-KW ultra-supercritical low heating value coal-fired power plant. Managers of the three said they will do all the necessary preparation for the projects carefully, increase cooperation with coal companies, and make a greater effort to development wind power to contribute to Datong’s economic and social development.
