The city of Datong, Shanxi province held a culture and creativity industry seminar on Dec 27, to discuss plans for industry development there, with the vice-mayor, Cao Xuecheng, taking part.

The meeting attracted folk artists in various fields and representatives of culture businesses to give their version of developments and the conditions of the industry and to discuss ways to strengthen the culture creativity business in Datong, as well as how to build culture industry parks.

Cao addressed the gathering after listening to people’s opinions and said that, at the present moment, Datong’s folk art is still at the development stage and is too fractured to be very competitive, so it needs a public forum to display its work, and encourage folk culture to industrialize and develop.

Cao pointed out that folk art should be combined with the tourism and culture industries to better show the history and culture of Datong.
