Two-hundred members of the China Great Wall Society (CGWS) and Shanxi provincial Great Wall Society inspected the Ming Dynasty Great Wall in Zuoyun county of Datong city and held a meeting on Great Wall culture on Sept 16.
Great Wall Society members visited the Great Wall on foot and branched out on two lines going east and west. The east line included sites from Youzhou (an ancient city in Northern China) such as the Yuehua Pool, Weilu Fortress, Zuoyun Stone Forest and Motianling Great Wall. The west line began from the Wulushan grassland, and included scenic spots such as the Ninglu Fortress. The two teams finally met each other at the Jianning Watch Tower.
The Datong Great Wall Society sponsored the inspection. It was established in 2007 to protect and study Datong's Great Wall. The organization has held more than 20 similar inspections in the past.
