The “Tian Xia Datong” (global harmony), a seven-series historical and cultural documentary jointly launched by the Datong municipal government and China’s CCTV will be broadcast at 20:00 every evening from May 7, 2012 to May 13, 2012 on CCTV’s Documentary Channel (CCTV 9).
Directed by Gao Feng, vice-president of CCTV, “Tian Xia Datong” is a documentary that took two years to complete. Its planner and contributor is Yang Xiaoming, a famous scholar and writer in China.
The documentary is comprised of seven parts, “Datong Hupan” (Datong Lakeside), “Tie Ma Jin Ge” (Shining spears and armored horses), “San Dai Jing Hua” (three generations of capital), “Yungang Grotto”, “Bian Cheng Ba Jian” (strike the sword at the border town), “Bei Yue Heng Shan” (Hengshan Mountain in the north) and “Yun Zhong Zhi Cheng” (a city in the cloud).
It not only gives detailed accounts to the historical changes of Datong, but also focuses on historical and cultural heritages like the Yungang Grottoes, the Hua Yan Temple, the Shan Hua Temple, the Hengshan Mountain and the Hanging Temple.
