On May 5th and 6th, a team led by Zhu Gongshan, president of Golden Concord Holdings Limited, paid a visit to its Datong base to investigate the projects on the polycrystalline silicon and photovoltaic industry.
The team was accompanied by Geng Yanbo, mayor of Datong city, and Wang Kejian, vice-mayor of Datong.
The polycrystalline silicon and photovoltaic industry, as a circular economy project and a key project for industrial transformation in Shanxi, is being developed by the Golden Concord Holdings Limited, a world-leading enterprise in the photovoltaic field.
The project, laying the cornerstone in Datong city last September, boasts a complete industrial chain ranging from the production of polycrystalline silicon to photovoltaic power plants. The project plays a significant part in building Datong into a new energy city by replacing “black energy” with “green energy”.
Zhu gave sincere thanks to the city for its full support on the matter. He said that the reasons behind the Golden Concord’s investment in Datong are not only its substantial light and land resources, advantageous geographic location and vast market potential, but also its ideology that the traditional “black” energy should be replaced by the new “green” energy.
Zhu pointed out that the Golden Concord would make every effort to accomplish this project, further cooperate with Datong and endeavor to build an industrial base for new energy in Datong at an early date.
Geng Yanbo made arrangements for issues involved in the development of the project, including city planning, construction of pipes, land usage, electricity and environmental protection. He remarked that Datong, a traditional energy base, would abandon the mono industrial structure under the principle of transformative development and would start the new energy project in cooperation with Golden Concord Holdings Limited.
Geng suggested that this would not only encourage the industrial restructuring and innovative development in Datong, but would also have practical significance for the international competition “Solar Decathlon 2013”.
