Athletes and long-distance running enthusiasts came to Linfen city, Shanxi province to take part in a marathon on May 27.
A total of 10,000 participants from six countries and regions, including the UK, Germany and Kenya, as well as 19 Chinese provinces, cities and autonomous regions made this year's marathon the biggest in Linfen's history.
Runners of all ages and abilities took part in the competition, with the oldest runner over 80 years old, and a number of disabled athletes competing.
The Yaowang Cup Marathon offered a full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.0975 km) and mini marathon (5 km) for competitors to choose from, all on their own dedicated routes.
The very best of Linfen's culture and history were on show to race participants with specially designed medals and information packs designed to inform runners about the city, with the aim of promoting its profile.
