Shanxi shows its famous cuisine to the public

Shanxi province recently released to the world 10 most famous dishes, its commerce bureau has reported, based on their taste, ingredients, nutritional benefits, color, and cultural connotations.

The 10 most famous dishes include oiled pork, hotpot mix, stewed mutton, fried potato shreds, fried stuffed bun with sea-buckthorn, stewed fish-shaped paste with tomatoes, fried Chinese yams with cattails, eggplant with quail meat, lotus-leaf-like pancake with meat sauce, and braised carp with tofu.

A provincial commerce bureau official said this news is good for promoting the catering business and the improvement of catering companies.

The food selection was one part of a "Shanxi people, Shanxi cuisine, and Shanxi taste" event, which began this past May 16, with help from various provincial departments.
