It is one of the largest residential buildings built during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. The building consists of an inner part and outer part. The former was built in the Ming Dynasty, while the later was constructed during the Qing Dynasty.
Huangcheng Premier's Mansion was originally called "Zhongdao Manor". During the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Emperor Kangxi came and wrote in person "Wutingshan Village" as its name. Because Emperor Kangxi visited the village twice, people called it "Huangcheng" (the Imperial city) afterwards.
