Blooming cherry blossoms have turned the Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden into a pink world, attracting many spring sightseers.
As the weather warms up, the cherry blossom garden within Chensan, where many cherry trees of various species are planted, has formed a sea of pink flowers.
Along Chenshan's famed cherry boulevard, which is the star attraction during the spring in the garden, Kawazu-zakura cherry blossoms are now in full bloom. The Kawazu-zakura is one of the Japanese cherry blossom varieties and a type of early-blooming cherry blossom. This year, the best period to see the flowers is March 5 to 15.
The cherry boulevard attracts many visitors to take walks through the trees, have picnics and take photos while the flowers are in full bloom. The images of cherry blossoms in Chenshan splash across news sites and social media every year.
Following the Kawazu-zakura, other varieties of cherry blossoms like the Yoshino cherry blossom will also bloom in the garden in the following weeks, enabling visitors to admire the beauty of cherry blossoms of different kinds throughout the spring.
Chenshan recently also launched a camping event for families. Participants can picnic on the grass along the cherry boulevard, admire the charming cherry blossoms under the moonlight at night and watch movies in the open air.
The Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden is a national 4A-level scenic spot. It is located in the Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort in Shanghai's Songjiang district and covers an area of 207 hectares, making it the largest botanical garden in East China.
Chenshan now requires reservations in advance. Tourists can make reservations on its official WeChat account and website, and other tourism platforms like Meituan and Ctrip. They can also call 021-67657812 (available from 10 am to 2 pm) to make reservations.
